The Garlic worked well. It killed the pain almost immediately, the abscess is smaller and I feel functional.

I am in A LOT of pain right now. I am in need of a root canal, infection has set in and have an abscess that has grown and now another is starting up...fun, fun, fun! I have been doing the salt water rinse and a rinse with peroxide and a rinse with mouth wash. They all help to some degree, but only for the moment. Tylenol and Motrin are both ineffective. I am in terrible pain and I am looking forward to this experiment. I will post in a couple of hours.

My cap that I'd had on my back top left molar over two years ago fell out, what was left barley came through the gum (it must have snapped). The pain was excruciating and when I looked in the mirror my gum above had gone black (infected). I crushed fresh garlic clove and stuffed a finger tip full of mulch into the tender bit and rubbed around my gums - compared to the pain my whole side of face was in the 'garlic burn' was negligible. It really works I did this twice a day for a week.

I have an old root canal that became infected underneath, in the gum. My jaw was so swollen and I could barely open my mouth. I was without insurance and didn't want to go to the emergency dentist. I didn't have any fresh garlic, but always kept garlic powder. I put about 3 tsp in an 8 Oz glass of warm water and drank it and went to bed. When I woke up the next day, the swelling was almost 1/3 of the size and pain nonexistent. I repeated this twice a day for about 3 days, although it was completely healed by the end of day 2.... It really works, plus it seemed to clear up my sinuses!

I went to the dentist on Thursday with an abscess on my gum right near my cheekbone, the dentist wanted to give me antibiotics, I am anti antibiotics, especially as I'm breastfeeding my 8 week old daughter. When I told the dentist I was breastfeeding he sent me away telling me to go back the next day if it got worse and he would give me a prescription. The next day I was in AGONY I could barely open my mouth, so I reluctantly went back to the dentist, he gave a prescription for antibiotics but told me to check with my GP to see if I could take them, I called my dr and he said it was ok, still reluctant I took my first dose with 1 paracetamol tablet to try and get rid of the intense pain, 2 doses later I decided I wasn't happy breastfeeding my daughter as I know some of the antibiotic would passed through into my milk is I expressed and threw it away and gave my daughter formula (yuk!) totally unhappy about this I found this page whilst searching for a natural remedy for toothache/abscess. Immediately I went to the kitchen and crushed a clove of garlic placed it between my cheek and gum OMG THE BURN!! I read that I should leave it do 10 minutes ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!! I lasted at best 1 minute before having to spit it out, my nose was running, my eye was watering and the dribble was pouring from my mouth BUT I am completely PAIN FREE!!!! My cheek was VERY swollen, it still is swollen but not as much and I cannot believe I feel no pain at all. Thank you to everyone who posted comments because now I can go back to breast feeding my baby girl, ditch the poisonous antibiotics and be pain free

I was suffering for days with an intense tooth ache. I took every over the counter pain reliever and used several jells. Nothing helped. I could not sleep and it seemed to get worse no matter what I tried. After reading this page I rubbed the garlic powder on the tooth and gums around the tooth that hurt. With in minutes the pain subsided. I reapplied the garlic powder 3 more times over a few hours. The pain is completely gone. THANK GOD FOR GARLIC. Which is kind of funny because I live in Gilroy California the garlic capitol of the world. Thank you all for your comments and suggestions.

Well, the verdict is in. IT TOTALLY WORKED! I mashed up another clove of garlic right before bed and smeared it on the abcess and affected tooth and went to bed. And YES, it still burned and tasted super yucky but when I woke up this morning the abcess was almost completely gone. I would say it is 80% better. I do still have some swelling and tenderness in my jaw and I am still going to go to the dentist in the morning but I highly recommend this treatment. Here's to Mother Nature and feeling better!!

I actually have a PAINFUL abcess as I write this and have been reading the testimonials so I thought I'd give it a try. Mashed up a clove of garlic and put it directly on my abcess/bad tooth and IT BURNED BAD and tastes horrific but most everyone else on here said it would so I sucked it up (literally and figuratively) for 10 minuets and I gotta say it already feels much better. Gonna do it again in about an hour and again right before I go to bed. I will post the results in the morning.
